Polemic Reflection on Millennial's 2016 Voting Preferences

Trump's and Sanders' rogue campaigns demonstrate the mass media's limitations to condition many Americans' voting preferences and how they interpret the essence of candidates' images and platforms. Now my view in this case assumes that the mass media rather than simply informing us attempts moreover to condition our thinking. My view here is anecdotal but many examples show mass media outlets and "experts" who failed to foresee the emergence of either candidate have shifted to lecture us on the Trump/Sanders phenomenon.

I will not assess who if any candidate is more qualified to be President. Regardless to what degree Trump and Sanders are connected to the Establishment neither of them were its primary choice to represent the two-party oligarchy. Also both candidates' relative success reveals to us that the public possesses levels of critical consciousness immune from mass media's conditioning.

The media constantly assured us that Hillary Rodham Clinton will be the nominee. This condescending refrain occurred for months prior to her securing enough "delegates" to claim the nomination on June 06, 2016. In that context Sanders' insurgency will need to be mature and acknowledge defeat and unify his supporters with the Democratic party. Also, Trump is just a reactionary appealing to the worst impulses of the worst people. Both Sanders and Trump are entertaining filler while the rigged delegate-Super scheme protects the U.S. oligarchy from any real democracy.

Regardless of the media echo chamber repeating Hillary's inevitable coronation, the voting behavior of Americans age 30 and under justify some optimism. They missed that memo that its Hillary's turn. This fait accompli fails to impress voters under 30.

And, GOP elite billionaires like the Koch brothers, Sheldon Adelson, and Paul Singer failed to keep many GOP voters on their leash by narrowing down their choice to the likes of Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush, and even the charismatic Ted Cruz. Trump's support have come primarily from voters over age 45, Will this age group continue the same energy that activated their insurgency at the expense of the oligarchs hand picked contenders? That's hard to say now because the establishment will still prevail in 2016, and that may induce a sense of futility among Trump's supporters. It seems like yesterday that the Koch Brothers anointed Scott Walker to carry the torch of Austerity. Trump supporters' revolutionary zeal is hard to measure at this point. And, it is even more difficult to foresee if it will create an insurgent momentum that can reshape the GOP base.

Sanders' supporters appear so far to possess more energy to sustain resistance to the establishment, a transitional phase that began with the Occupy Movement.

A pathological liar and narcissistic publicity addict have failed to convince those Milennials so far to uphold the tradition of a 2-party oligarchy. Yes Sanders is running as a Democrat, but that is coincidental insofar as he has faced two opponents in the Democratic primary:  candidate Hillary and the Democratic party. These facts alone suggests that although the oligarchy will win their staged public relations campaign called a U.S. Presidential election, the under 30 crowd show a critical awareness of this oligarchy wielding power over them.

The myriad rules of winning delegates, super delegates, and all other sub-categories of delegates is only necessary in a political party organized to prevent actual popular participation. A party system rigged with such rules precludes it being reformed with masses of energetic voters under 30. Hopefully their awareness motivates creative modes of resistance to this oligarchy. Its a start.
