Mainstream news and media outlets frequently publish articles that rate nations according to the overall quality of life enjoyed by their citizens. Regardless of what category of the quality of life being rated, the U.S. is always absent from the top nations. Recently, CBS Marketwatch posted a news story that lists the 10 healthiest countries in the world. No surprise that the U.S. was not included in this top ten.
Americans shouldn't care that the U.S. offers a quality of life that is less than many other developed nations. Quality of life is a rhetorical ploy that socialists use to lay a foundation on which they can promote ideas subversive to "freedom" such as a safety net for working classes. Safety nets once unfolded prove to be only chains. So saith the libertarians and all other true defenders of freedom.
Forget that soft stuff like Quality of Life that comforts the emasculated and burdens the producers. The U.S. ranks number one where it matters most: military spending. This trend has existed for decades. In fact, the U.S. excels well beyond the rest of the world in this category. Why should nations' peoples focus on quality of life? Rather, they should focus on quality of empire. The U.S. focus on the latter has worked out well. Just ask Iraq and Libya.
